Where voice typing works
Voice typing works on phones and computers in browsers that offer speech recognition. It needs a microphone and an internet connection. If your browser cannot do Urdu voice typing, this page tells you, and you can type Urdu with English letters or the Urdu keyboard instead.
Questions about voice typing
The microphone is blocked. How do I allow it again?
Open your browser's site settings for write-urdu.com (usually the icon beside the address bar), set Microphone to Allow, then reload the page and press Start voice typing again. On a phone, also check in your phone settings that the browser app is allowed to use the microphone.
Does voice typing start listening on its own?
No. Listening starts only after you press Start voice typing, and you can stop it at any time with Stop listening. See voice typing privacy for how speech recognition is handled.
Should I use voice typing or English-letter typing?
Voice is quickest for longer messages when you can speak clearly. English to Urdu typing works everywhere, needs no microphone and gives you full control over names and spellings. You can switch between them at any time.
